Event Branding 

Description

The chorus lyrics to, "My milshake brings all the boys to the yard", were seared into my brain as a teenager. The memories of riding in my friend's rattletrap Dodge Neon came rushing back when I set out creating the event branding for Kelis' Arepas & Agave party in Los Angeles. I designed a suite of goods that invited guests to celebrate classic pairings as well as the Columbian heritage of the infamous celebrity chef.

Process

I decided on a vibrant color palette after researching the visual culture of latin america, pulling hues from woven textiles and contemporary signage. The strong corners of the typeface's ampersand provided a visual motif to build from. 

Using large swaths of vibrating color fields as a backdrop, I brought attention to the intersections of the sloping linework.

Double-sided cards featuring classic pairings by copywriter Simon Goetz stood among ampersands and OpenTable logos, giving guests fun conversation starters from the not-so-distant past.
